The History of The B.C. Honda Owners Club

The B.C. Honda Owners Club was officially formed in 2017, but the culture behind it started long before the name came together. BCHOC was born from the kind of Honda scene that defined the 1990s and early 2000s: late-night meets, garage-built Civics, Integra swaps, hand-me-down parts, highway cruises, forum posts, parking lot troubleshooting, and a whole generation of enthusiasts who learned that Honda ownership was never just about transportation. It was about building something, showing up, helping each other, and keeping the scene alive.

Before BCHOC became the unified club known today, British Columbia’s Honda community was spread across smaller groups, most notably 604Civics and BCHondas. Those groups had their own members, their own style, and their own history, but they were all built from the same foundation. They represented the people who grew up around Hondas and Acuras when the import scene was exploding, when Civics, Integras, Preludes, Accords, CRXs, RSXs, and S2000s were everywhere, and when a clean build in a parking lot could draw a crowd faster than any social media post.

The creation of the B.C. Honda Owners Club brought that energy together under one banner. Instead of separating the scene by chassis, generation, or local group name, BCHOC gave Honda and Acura owners across British Columbia one place to belong. The club was never built around one specific car. It does not matter if someone drives an Odyssey Touring, an NSX, a stock daily Civic, a swapped Integra, a restored Prelude, a track-prepped S2K, or a brand-new Type R. If the person respects the cars, the culture, and the community, they have a place here.

That open-door approach is a major part of what made BCHOC different. Some members are lifelong builders who know chassis codes, engine families, and obscure factory options by memory. Others are new owners who are just getting into their first Honda or Acura. The club brings those people together without losing the old-school scene mentality that made Honda culture what it is. The best parts of the community have always been the same: helping someone source a part, giving advice on a build, showing up for a cruise, lending a hand when a car breaks down, and making sure newer members feel welcome instead of judged.

Over time, BCHOC grew into one of the most recognizable Honda and Acura communities in British Columbia. The club became known for organized meets, cruises, dealership-supported events, and its ability to bring together people from across the province. It also holds a unique place in the local scene as the only Honda Canada affiliated car club in British Columbia, giving it a level of recognition that reflects the strength and legitimacy of the community its members have built.

But the heart of BCHOC has never been corporate. It is still rooted in the scene. It comes from the era when people built cars in driveways, learned from forums, traded parts out of trunks, and measured credibility by how much they actually knew and how they treated people. That is the foundation BCHOC carries forward. The cars have changed, the technology has changed, and the way people connect has changed, but the reason the club exists has stayed the same.

The B.C. Honda Owners Club is more than a decal or a Facebook group. It is the continuation of British Columbia’s Honda culture, from the 1990s and early 2000s import scene to the modern generation of Honda and Acura owners. Its history is built from the clubs that came before it, the members who kept showing up, and the belief that every Honda and Acura enthusiast deserves a community that understands why these cars matter. BCHOC represents the people who keep the brand, the scene, and the culture moving forward.
